Tensor, an AI and robotics development company, is expanding its footprint in the tech industry. They have unveiled the world's first autonomous vehicle available for private ownership, potentially redefining individual autonomy in transport. This vehicle, known as the Tensor Robocar, will be Lyft-ready right out of the factory, with plans for Lyft to roll out a fleet of them by 2027.
Tensor's operations are not limited to road transportation. They are also leaving their mark on Quantum Computing. Recently, a review by Global tech leaders assessing the role of Tensor Networks in Quantum Computing has been published. Even, the AI tensor network-based computational framework has managed to crack a 100-year old physics challenge.
Google, leveraging Tensor's technology, came up with Pixel phones powered by Tensor chips. The G5 chip was hailed as a game-changer, however, it has been under scrutiny as Pixel phones have started to malfunction. Google plans significant improvements to future Tensor chips alongside its own fully custom camera ISP.
Tensor also introduced the world's first AI-powered hair clipper for professionals, and a company called My-Blades has launched a product called Tensor 1 facilitating this.
However, Tensor's journey is not without challenges. An EU consumer case has been registered addressing the malfunctions in the Google Pixel phones post its recent collaboration with Tensor. Nevertheless, their innovative approach and solutions demonstrate considerable potential in changing the tech ecosystem.
