There are multiple updates involving the Tensor brand, touching on diverse areas such as processors and outdoor gear. Google's Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL smartphones feature the Tensor G4 chip, yet some reports suggest it is not designed for speed or to beat benchmarks - some tests indicate it even provides poorer gaming performance than its predecessor, the Tensor G2. However, Google maintains that the focus for Pixel 9's Tensor G4 is on real improvements, not benchmarks.
The forthcoming Pixel 9a may also feature the Tensor G4 chip, albeit with an older modem. Tensor G4's relative lack of performance led some to consider waiting for the Google Pixel 10, which may introduce the Tensor G5. Reports suggest Google has completed Tensor G5's design and that its manufacturing will be handled by TSMC with their 3nm process.
