MakerDAO has rebranded as
Sky and is introducing a new stablecoin
USDS, an upgradeable version of
DAI. This announcement has stirred concerns in the crypto community since this new stablecoin will have a remote freeze function. Despite the controversy,
MakerDAO assures that DAI will proceed as normal. A separate scandal rattled the crypto sphere as
$55M DAI was stolen in a DeFi Saver phishing attack. At the same time, the demand for DAI appears to be on the rise, driven by DAI’s stability, especially amidst recent volatility in cryptocurrency markets. MakerDAO has announced plans for two more stablecoins named
NewStable and
PureDAI as part of their 'Endgame' initiative. Amid growth concerns, a proposal has been launched on the Aave platform to counter the expansion risks of DAI. A whale was deceived in a phishing attack and lost over $55M in DAI stablecoins. A positive turn of events occurred when a scammer returned $9.3M DAI to the victim, 10 months post-phishing.
