Balancer has recently encountered several compromises and subsequent vulnerabilities. Most notably, a social engineering attack led to the protocol's website being hijacked. Afterwards, the protocol warned about a critical vulnerability in their V2 pools. Financial losses exceeding $1M have been registered in numerous exploits, often leading to immediate user withdrawals. Primary cases include the loss of $238K in crypto due to a DNS attack on their frontend, and another separate incident leading to a $900K loss. Investors are therefore urged to stay on high alert, since the frequency and severity of these exploits have raised concerns about reliability. However, it is also significant to note that several important updates occur in the broader load balancer sector. For example, VMware Avi load balancer announced new innovations for accelerating application deployments, while Amazon has introduced mTLS for its application load balancer to verify client identities more reliably. Also, Azure Load Balancer now supports admin states and AWS Global Accelerator supports client IP address preservation for Network Load Balancer endpoints.
