Recently, there has been a lot of activity and conversation around the topic of decentralized identification, often referred to as ID coin or ID verification, within the cryptocurrency world. Privado ID has voiced concerns regarding financial incentives in the violation of personal data consent. Meanwhile, Worldcoin (WLD) prices rose by 28% following an expansion of their global ID verification, and they have announced the introduction of a competitor product to Apple's Face ID. A threshold of $425 has been set for Crypto User ID under new AML rules in Turkey. This follows an instance of Fractal ID, a blockchain identity platform, suffering a data breach. The platform offers unique solutions for making ZK-proofs more affordable than legacy ID systems, according to Cysic's founder. MicroStrategy has announced a decentralized ID project to be launched on Bitcoin, named MicroStrategy Orange, and expanded into Austria. Additionally, Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, has implemented a blockchain-based identification system for 3.6 million residents. Cryptocurrency exchanges also continue to attract criminal activity with fraudulent sign-ups resulting in prison sentences. Amid all of this, there seems to be promise of forward momentum as the ID coin prepares to launch an AI resistant, Iris dependent ID protocol and gains recognition from the likes of the European Commission and layers of integration with major global tech firms.
