EURI Coin, a
new euro-pegged stablecoin launched by
Banking Circle which is MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) compliant, has drawn attention as it lists on popular cryptocurrency exchange,
Binance. The
Euro stablecoin market has risen considerably, bolstered by like-minds such as
Coinbase's blockchain introducing their own euro-pegged stablecoin,
EURC. Stablecoins, a type of virtual currency, are noted for maintaining their price parity with a particular asset- in EURI's case, it is the euro.
Meanwhile, counterfeit Euro coins and their associated illegal operations are being dismantled across
Spain and
Italy, with authorities making arrests.
Belgium is experiencing a coin shortage and is encouraging the public to spend their unused coins. In other news,
European countries are also investing in new euro coins to commemorate specific events, with
Portugal issuing a €7 coin in honor of footballer
Cristiano Ronaldo.
Controversy has also arisen concerning one-euro coin designs, resulting in Croatia seeking a redesign and Bulgaria unveiling new designs after amending banking acts. This comes as the apparent demand for physical euro coins in circulation falls in countries such as
Ireland.
Collectable rare euro coins are causing a stir in the market with certain coins potentially being worth substantially more than their face value.
