Numerous instances of
treasure discovery across the world have been reported. A
pot filled with gold coins was found in an ancient Greek city in Turkey, a rare hoard of
ancient Roman coins was unearthed in Poland, and
coins minted in ancient Persia were uncovered also in Turkey. Treasures including massive hoards of coins dating back to the
17th century and even upto 400 years have been discovered variously from renovation projects in England, San Francisco scavenger hunt, ancient shipwrecks by Florida treasure hunters, and even during a casual stroll by a woman.
Some significant finds include
11th-century silver coins discovered under a church, a medieval 'jackpot' discovered during a kitchen renovation, and a significant hoard of gold coins from Spanish shipwrecks, ancient 2,400-year-old gold coins unearthed in Turkey, 850-year-old treasure in an ancient grave and 10 extraordinary treasures that archaeologists unearthed this year. Coin collections and shows were also held to celebrate these finds. Furthermore, a new gold rush triggered due to increasing prices amidst economic uncertainty, was also noted that adds value to these discoveries.
Other extraordinary finds detailed older coins discovered in unexpected locations and even as part of a rewards program for a treasure hunt. A few instances like treasure hoards consisting of American and Russian gold coins were found in Polish forest and the People's Bank of China issuing National Treasure-themed commemorative coins suggest a global appreciation for these ancient treasures.
