Fantom, a known cryptocurrency in the market, has undergone key developments recently, one of which is its rebranding to
Sonic. The project has gained momentum as updates on their
New Layer 1 Sonic, known for its heightened transaction speed at 10,000 TPS, were released. This strategic move aims to redefine the boundaries of blockchain speed, with a 720ms finality, attempting to set new standards in the Defi space.
This rebranding and upgrade are supported by leading exchange platforms like
Coinbase,
Binance, and
Cryptocom. However, scrutiny from the
CFTC did cause a pause in Fantom's trading on Coinbase. Binance has announced Fantom to Sonic token swap and presented a detailed timeline for the process.
In relation to pricing and market trends,
Fantom's price saw a 70% gain in 30 days and forecasts suggest a possible 50% price gain is imminent. Some analysts argue that the rebranding stunt failed to boost price momentum, prompting a 15% drop in FTM price due to final preparations for Sonic transition. Nevertheless, bullish outlooks claim that Sonic's price might surge 180% if it manages to clear specific resistance.
Apart from the crypto aspect, the Fantom name has emerged in partnership with
Porsche and
Frauscher in introducing a high-end electric sports boat,
Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom. In spite of these changes, risks surrounding Fantom's future persist, especially after Coinbase delisting announcement and the
$7M polter finance exploit on Fantom Blockchain.
