PayPal,
Venmo and various other platforms (including
Google) have recently integrated
Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to make cryptocurrency transactions smoother and more user-friendly. This is expected to boost the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum Name Service provides human-readable names in place of the usual lengthy hexadecimal addresses. ENS is also in the spotlight for its significant month-on-month gains, with a number of positive predictions on its continued rise.
South Korean Exchange Upbit has added support for ENS and
GoDaddy, the world's largest domain name registrar, is now charging $0 for ENS .eth name pairing. These actions suggest an increasing recognition and acceptance of ENS. However, ENS is not without controversy, with community splits on petitions and warnings about
wallet impersonation scams. It is interesting to note that
Vitalik Buterin, the co-creator of Ethereum, has praised ENS as 'super important', contributed to its promotional activities, and adopted its service. Despite some negative retraces, ENS continues to show strong performance within the crypto market. Concerning future plans, ENS is considering building its
own layer 2 network to reduce gas fees and boost transaction speed. The service recorded over 2.8 million domain registrations this year, and expects much more to come.
